THE STORY OF MY FRIEND WHO MADE 8MILLION SALES IN 2022, BUT WANTED TO MAKE 20MILLION 

A few weeks ago, I was sitting at the dinning table at home working on my computer, then my phone rang.

It was my friend from Abuja. 

My sweet friend.

Our gist is always done in Hausa.

So I picked up the phone and greeted her in Hausa.

She responded in a crying tone.

Ah ah, I was pulled aback.

Did I hear well?

What could have happened?

I spoke again, then she broke down crying aloud.

I shut my computer immediately.

"What is wrong I asked?" 

"Is your husband okay?"

"What about my children? Are they okay?"

She said everyone was okay, even her parents in Kaduna.

So why are you crying like this? What happened?

She then explained to me that she just calculated her sales for the whole of 2022 and it was only 8million.

She was unhappy at the result.

She said she had planned to do 20million in sales in 2022 and she was very sad that she didn't come even close to the target.

She was crying so much that I first needed to calm her down.

I took time to remind her how she got married before all of us and has a great marriage.

I reminded her how all her kids are doing so well at school and making her proud.

I reminded her how she isn't struggling with weight or any health challenge.

I reminded her how much we her friends love her.

I asked her if all these blessings weren't far more than 20million in a year. 

But honestly she wouldn't stop crying.

So I told her I was going to help her make more than 20million in this year 2023.

That infact, my target is 24million, not 20million and I would help her make it.

She still didn't stop crying because it was ofcourse hard to believe me.

I asked if her husband was around and to give him the phone, because she wasn't in a frame of mind to listen to what I needed to ask her to do.

She gave the phone to him.

Both of us (me and her husband) greeted and talked about how she was crying so much.

Her husband explained he had begged and begged her, but when he couldn't get her to stop crying, he asked her to call me.

So I told her husband to please listen to what I want them to do so she can hit 24million in sales this 2023.

I asked him to please write the plan.

Her husband is a civil engineer who builds houses. He is smart and able to help her do what I was about to explain.

So here's the plan:

First, write the annual target in sales of 24million.

Next break it down into months, that's 2million a month.

Next break it down into her working days.

She runs a business that opens daily and even on Saturdays. So it is safe to assume that her business would open at least 25 days in a month.

2million divided by 25 days = 80k daily

So, she needs to make sales of 80k everyday to hit 24million in annual sales.

I told her husband to find me any 20k bundled offer with her services.

All we need to hit the target, is just 4 sales daily.

Simple!

With 4 sales daily of 20k each, she will make 80k daily and then 2million monthly and then 24million in the year.

Her husband thanked me and got off the call.

The next time she called me, it was all laughter and screaming.

She had created a bundle offer for 20k as I advised.

Then she paid 250k for advertising to a particular platform and the results were wow.

She was telling me that they are overwhelmed with customers.

I was so happy for her.

Here's the lesson that I want you to take from this - Maybe your sales targets look tough and impossible because you haven't broken down your numbers and actions into smaller attainable units.

Someone somewhere just needs to sell 2 dresses daily to make 1million this month.

Someone somewhere just needs 5 cake orders every week to make 500k profits this month.

Someone somewhere needs to raise 100k for an exam. You know how to braid hair. 

You just need 15 customers, every other day in a month of 30 days, paying an average of 7k, and you will raise the money you need.

Please sit down today and break your target into simple attainable numbers so you can channel your energy properly and hit that target.

My friend was crying for not making 20million in a year.

But she had everything it takes to make far more.

All she needed was a simple plan laced with visibility.
